May Morning

i have been walking in my neighborhood instead of going to Curves, three days a week, for the past few weeks. i actually like it. hoping i can keep it up as the weather gets hotter. will have to get out earlier than i usually go to Curves! anyway, the poem-a-day challenge for April is over, but the Writers Digest poetry editor puts up a prompt on his blog every Wednesday. the topic this week was 'spring.' this is what i wrote while walking this morning.

May Morning
“…if these should hold their peace,
the stones would immediately cry out.”
Luke 19:40

Thank You, Lord
for this blue-sky day
no less yesterday’s
gray mist; gratitude
for the ceaseless song
of mockingbird
determined that no stones
cry out on his watch.

Good Words! That's why we used to sing the old song, "Let's all sing like the Mocking Bird!" Might we all be so determined to do our part in praising the Lord.
Men of the church fed the ladies breakfast today. Scrambled eggs, bacon, two kinds of sausages, pancakes, fruits and melon, including strawberries with chocolate dip, coffee and orange juice. Only started serving about 25 minutes late. Magically we finished by 10. Of course the ladies could not resist the challenge to pitch in and help clean up. I think they don't trust the men to wipe off the table cloths before storing them. Then we drove by Abuelos, by ourselves since Barberies and Golladays still have mothers to visit, albeit neither one knows that they have been visited. Abuelos was standing room only, OUTSIDE, so we just cruised the parking lot and came home by 11:35. Winston was glad to see us even if he didn't get any food, either. Spent most of yesterday at yard sales. Mailed Aaron a big Care package, passed by Mandi's church group sale, on Mandi's drive way. Went to Claude's annual city-wide garage sale event. Lots of junk but not much left by the time we got there about 1:30.And so to a cool, cloudy Sabbath afternoon. Love, Dad
